The Work/Life Mission Series presents our last Eating On Campus Tour! At this Eating on Campus Tour, we will start at the Café @ the Park School to see its coffee, snack, and lunch options. We will also visit the Food Court and its vegetarian, Asian, grill, deli, and to-go meals, as well as La Vincita and its variety of paninis, flatbread pizzas, coffee, and frozen yogurt. In addition, we will stop by Grand Central Café to explore its smoothie, coffee, and snack offerings, as well as Campus Center Dining Hall where we will learn about its international, vegan, and grill options. A core team of 20+ student interns and volunteers manage the Natural Lands. The ICNL Staff collaborates widely across the campus community, involving members from several Schools and student organizations. Several IC courses use the Natural Lands as their outdoor classroom. Diverse projects in the Natural Lands range from ecological research to environmental education to senior volunteer outreach to trail building and maintenance for recreational use. Read more . . . (23 words) Nathan Hess, piano faculty, presents at College Music Society conference; performs and teaches throughout regionContributed by Nathan Hess on 04/22/14 Dr. Nathan Hess, School of Music, presented a lecture-recital at the CMS Northeast Regional Conference at SUNY Potsdam on April 5 titled “Ned Rorem’s Recalling (2003) for Solo Piano: An Examination of Compositional Style and Influences.” The talk highlighted the unique features that tie together all three movements of the work, including the direct influences from composer/author Paul Bowles. The presentation concluded with a live performance of Recalling. In February, Dr. Hess was invited to perform his “American Masters” solo program at the Phelps Mansion Museum in Binghamton as part of its Second Sunday Concert Series. The recital consisted of contemporary works by John Corigliano, Ned Rorem, George Perle, and Samuel Barber. Read more . . . The office will approve a maximum of 50 more Off-campus Applications before the approval process for fall 2014 ends. Any applications received beyond the next group of 50, and any received after the end of the process, will be placed on an off-campus waiting list, and only approved if there is the need for an additional release later in the spring or summer.
