President Tom Rochon has announced that the college’s six-year physical therapy program in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance will be united on the South Hill campus. The final year of the program, which has been located in Rochester since 1991, will move to renovated facilities in Ithaca beginning in the fall of 2014.

By taking first place in the Collegiate Orchestras category, the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jeffery Meyer, is one of 19 American orchestras to be honored with a 2012–2013 ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Award for Adventurous Programming. ASCAP and the League of American Orchestras present the awards annually to orchestras of all sizes for programs that challenge the audience, build the repertoire and increase interest in music of our time.

Miranda Kaye presented a talk titled The Motivational Effects of a 12-week Multipoint Wellness Education Intervention at the North American Society for Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA) in New Orleans, LA. This research was conducted in collaboration with Gary Sforzo. Results indicated that increased wellness knowledge indirectly effects motivation to exercise. Exercise motivation at the end of the 12 weeks was in turn associated with higher levels of exercise.

Yvonne Rogalski, assistant professor in the department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and her former student, Muriel Quintana, have recently had their article "Activity engagement in cognitive aging: A review of the evidence" published in the journal "Perspectives on Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders."

Members of the IC's Toastmasters Club had much to celebrate this past 2012-13 program year.  Not only did the members celebrate the club's 10th anniversary on campus but also earned the Select Distinguished status for a 2nd year in a row by Toastmasters International.  In order for clubs to qualify for the award, members of the club must achieve at least seven of the ten goals set out by the organization as well as maintain membership count and/or growth.
