Professor Doebler has recently worked with high school students from Canandaigua Academy and Orchard Park. The schools came to campus where Professor Doebler engaged the ensembles in a variety of movement exercises designed to enhance their musicianship and performance.

Attention All Supervisors

As was introduced at the All College Meeting in January, ongoing meetings will be held to support, develop and inform our supervisors. It is an expectation that all supervisors attend. The first of these meetings will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, from 8:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., in the Emerson Suites.  This being the first meeting, we’d also like to identify topics for future gatherings.

IC staff and faculty are invited to be chaperones for wine tours during Senior Week.  This will be an all-day commitment (10am-4pm) on Monday, May 16.  Each bus tours four wineries, with lunch included for chaperones!  Two (2) chaperones are needed on each bus, for approximately 20-30 students on each bus.  Pair up with your favorite staff or faculty member to fully enjoy this experience!

UPSTATE NEW YORK PREMIEREEven the Rain is a narrative feature film that chronicles a filmmaker who goes to Bolivia to make a film about Columbus in the New World, and encounters the indigeneous people dealing with the Cochabamba water issues.  Casting director and IC alum Rodrigo Bellott will be on hand for the post-screening discussion.

As part of a panel that explored ways in which to use new technologies to enhance student learning, Prof. Cornwell spoke about the importance of using technology intentionally in ones teaching with a keen eye towards its role in reaching clearly defined student learning outcomes.  She also provided examples of how the technology can advance learning and enrich the educational experience in important ways.

Hypertension, also known as High Blood Pressure, affects 74 million Americans. This includes teenagers and children. Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular disease, and is the leading cause of stroke and a major cause of heart attacks. While the numbers are grim, the good news is it’s manageable and in some cases curable. It is important to be aware of your blood pressure, the causes/risk factors, and steps you can take to prevent hypertension.
