Dolce Flutes is a professional flute quartet dedicated to energetic and innovative performances. It was formed in the summer of 2008, when four passionate flutists came together to make great music. Hailed as "Four virtuosos with one incredible sound", Dolce Flutes has been delighting audiences with their impeccable performances since the quartet's inception. Their programs cover a wide array of musical styles, from the baroque to contemporary and include all four flutes of the flute family.

Esteemed journalist and author Robert Scheer (photo, right) and New York City’s unique, in-depth reporting outlet City Limits will share the third Izzy Award for outstanding achievement in independent media, bestowed by the Park Center for Independent Media.

Scheer and City Limits editor Jarrett Murphy will both accept the awards at a ceremony on Monday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites. The program is free and open to the public.

The Izzy Award is named after legendary muckraking journalist I.F. “Izzy” Stone, who for nearly four decades until his death in 1989 exposed government deceit and corruption while championing civil liberties, racial justice, and international diplomacy.

Brian Scholten, Registrar, presented on the topic of "Reconstructing the Office of the Registrar" at the 2011 AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington on Wednesday, March 16.  His presentation was attended by more than 70 participants and was well-received.

The grad Fair will be held at the Bookstore March 28 & 29 from 10am until 3pm.  Order your diploma frame, class ring and announcements to insure delivery before commencement.

Next week's NCUR 2011 schedule includes some exciting plenary talks. IC students are encouraged to participate in these talks by attending simulcasts in Park Auditorium, Textor 101, and Textor 102.

Maria DiFrancesco (Modern Languages and Literatures) was invited to give a lecture at the University of Buffalo on March 22. Her talk, entitled "Migrant Bodies Float?: Unsettled Bodies and In-Between Subjects in Por la vía de Tarifa," analyzed a series of short stories by Nieves Garcia Benito about Northern and Sub-Saharan African women's experiences migrating to Spain.
