The Symphonic Band, led by Elizabeth Peterson, will present a free concert of music by and inspired by John Philip Sousa on Tuesday, March 2 at 8:15 pm in Ford Hall.  The program includes Ira Hearshen's "Symphony on Themes of Sousa," as well as Sousa's own "The Washington Post," "The Thunderer," "The Fairest of the Fair," and "Hands Across the Sea."

Mezzo Soprano Jennifer will sing music of Santoliquido, Mahler, Friedrich Hoellender, Montsalvtge and a set of spritiuals arr. by Rodney Stucky during a free recital on Tuesday, March 2 at 7pm in the Hockett Family Recital.  Pianist Diane Birr and guitarist Pablo Cohen will collaborate.

Due to weather conditions, we are postponing many of the Park School dean candidate meetings scheduled for Thursday and Friday (February 25 and 26) -- EXCEPT the student meeting scheduled for 2:45-3:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, in Park Auditorium.

The open presentation by Diane Gayeski, finalist for the Park School of Communications Dean, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 2, 3:00-4:00 p.m. in Emerson Suite A. The presentation will be followed by a reception.

The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen film series will host a screening of the film A Knock Out on Wednesday March 3, in Textor 103.   Boxing champion Michele Aboro’s career came to a halt when she refused to vamp up her image and pose naked in magazines. The film tells a universal story of fighting for one’s identity and takes a probing look at the intersection of gender, ethnicity and sexuality in women’s sports.

The newly forming IC FOODS will be meeting on Friday, Feb 26 from 3-4 pm in the Ithaca Falls Room of the Campus Center. We will be discussing the vision for this new group as an "umbrella" organization for the many food related clubs on campus. We welcome anyone - faculty, staff and students - who is involved with the food related clubs on campus, or has an interest in food and nutrition, to attend and share ideas for creating a strong organization.
We will also be discussing ideas for possible collaborative events among the clubs.

Professor Amanullah De Sondy, Assistant Professor of World Religions - Department of Philosophy and Religion, will speak at the 'Expanding the Circle: Creating an Inclusive Environment in Higher Education for LGBTQ Students and Studies in San Francisco, February 25-28th.  His invited presentation will focus on 'Negotiating Identities: Gender and Islam'.  This session will address the complexities of gendered Muslim identity formations in order to talk about diverse possibilities for embodying gender in Islam.  Proposing frameworks for inclusive approaches to the study and practice of Islam via explorations of Islamic masculinities, Professor De Sondy's key area of research.

There will be an informational meeting about the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship on Tuesday, March 2, from 12:10-1:00 in Hill Center 57.  The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies abroad.

On February 25, as part of the Enduring Masters program, Oscar winning actress Olympia Dukakis, will visit the IC campus. She will be giving a one hour question and answer session for the entire campus community from 3-4 pm at Hoerner Theatre, Dillingham Center.
