As of Friday, April 3, free tickets are now available for the inauguration of Ithaca College's eighth president, Thomas R. Rochon. The ceremony will be Friday, April 17, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ben Light Gymnasium in Hill Center, and everyone is welcome.  

Tickets may be picked up Monday-Friday, noon to 6:00 p.m., at the recreation center on the ground floor of the Campus Center. The offices of all vice presidents and deans will also have a limited number of tickets to distribute.

Faculty who are marching in the inaugural procession do not need tickets.

The newly formed Ithaca College Sinfonietta, supervised by faculty member Jeff Meyer, will have its first performance Tuesday, April 7, at 9:00 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. Admission is free.

Graduate students Kevin Ryan and Jesse Livingston will lead the group in a performance of the Nabucco Overture by Guiseppe Verdi, "Slavonic Dances" by Antonin Dvorak, the Overture to Coriolan by Ludwig van Beethoven, and Symphony No. 9, also by Dvorak.

William Finn's wry musical, A New Brain, looks at a life interrupted by illness and reclaimed through love and forgiveness.

Tickets are still available for the remaining April 2-4 performances. Ticket prices range from $4.50 to $10.00 and may be purchased in person at the Dillingham Ticket Office or by calling (607) 274-3224. This week, the Park Center for Independent Media awarded Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman and blogger Glen Greenwald with its first Izzy award. The award is named after the legendary dissident journalist Isidor Feinstein “Izzy” Stone and is given for special achievement in independent media.

The two winners will be featured on the Bill Moyers Journal, Friday, April 3, and will talk about receiving their award and the importance of independent media. The show airs on most PBS stations at 9:00 p.m., including WSKG, and will be on Syracuse PBS channel 24 at 10:30 p.m.

The IC chapter of the American Marketing Association won two awards at the 31st International Collegiate Conference: third place in the O. Karl Mann Website Competition and an award for outstanding community service.

Free the Slaves, FLEFF, the School of Humanities and Sciences, and the Departments of English, Sociology, and Women Studies bring you a "rockumentary" about modern-day slavery and human trafficking. The film will be screened Friday, April 3, at 7:00 p.m. at Fall Creek Pictures.

Harry McCue, professor of art and chair of the department, will exhibit his oil painting, “Cow on a Drumlin, Wayne County,” in the regional juried show, “Made In NY 2009,” to be held at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, New York. 

The painting is one of the series "62 at 62" which is about painting each of the 62 counties of New York State which Harry McCue started on his 62nd birthday.

Changing times have caught up with the Tower Club, Ithaca College's restaurant with a view from high above Cayuga's waters. The Tower Club, located on the 14th floor of the East Tower residence hall, will close on Monday, May 18, the day after Commencement.
