This year, the Ithaca College School of Music’s annual Black History Month Concert will feature a performance by the Saakumu Dance Association. Free and open to the public, the concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

"G-Whizzes" Band Concert

Six composers whose names begin with the letter "G" will be featured on an upcoming free concert by the Ithaca College Concert Band on Wednesday, February 25, at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall.

Mark Fonder will conduct works by Gregson, Gossec, Goto, Grainger, Giannini, and Goldman.

It's a reminder that the nominations for ALS ALumni Memorial Scholarship are due Friday, March 6. Please send your nomination form via campus mail to the attention of Nansa Brown, Office of Multicultural Affairs, 324 Egbert Hall; or fax to 607-274-1634.

The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen film series will offer a screening of A Jihad for Love, featuring the stories of lesbian and gay Muslims. Islam is the world's second-largest and fastest-growing religion. Muslim filmmaker Parvez Sharma travels the world of this dynamic faith, discovering the stories of its most unlikely storytellers: lesbian and gay Muslims.

Set in the foothills of the snowcapped Himalayas, Dharamsala is the home of the His Holiness the Dalai Lama and numerous monasteries and nunneries. This program, led by Venerable Tenzin Thutop of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's Namgyal Monastery, and Lindsay Gilmour, an assistant professor of theater arts at Ithaca College, gives participants a unique and in-depth look at the heart and soul of Tibet in exile. The program offers a unique opportunity to receive teachings from high Tibetan Lamas and experience the sacred religious arts and culture of Tibet.
