    Mead Loop, associate professor and chair of the Journalism Department, was elected to a two-year term as vice president of the Society of Professional Journalists, the nation’s largest journalism organization with 10,000 members. He will be responsible for campus chapter affairs nationwide, and serve on the executive committee in charge of SPJ finances and policies. Loop also is co-chair of the grants committee of the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation, an $11 million foundation that funds journalism education and professional development for SPJ. Loop serves as the adviser to the Ithaca College chapter of SPJ.

    Journalist Ira Silverman will speak on “The World of Investigative Journalism: Confidential Sources, Cut-outs, Dangles, and the Hunt for the Big Story” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 3 in the Park Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public.

    Premium Blend, Ithaca's female a capella group, will be performing at the gallery on Thursday, October 27th at 7:00 p.m. as a part of the gallery's Thursdays at the Handwerker series. The group consists of 16 ladies who love to sing various types of a capella music. This semester, they are producing their second CD entitled "Girl."

    The event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Cheryl Kramer, Handwerker Gallery director, at 274-3548.
