Raymond Ghirardo (Art) and Megan Roberts (TV-R) were chosen to exhibit their sound/video installation "Rain/Fall" for "Suspension: Sonic Absorption" at Consolidated Works in Seattle, Washington, from February 19 to April 4. The curatorial team selected a dozen artists for the exhibit from over 150 artists who submitted work.

Bryan Danforth, associate professor in Cornell University's Department of Entomology, will speak Thursday, February 26, on "Phylogenetic studies of bees based on DNA sequence data." Danforth's lecture is part of the Biology Department Seminar Series.

HSHP has a new assistant dean. Dr. Janet Wigglesworth has accepted the position of Assistant Dean of Graduate and Clinical Services in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. She will start her new role on March 1, 2004.

The Ithaca College Wind Ensemble will perform before a national audience at the American Bandmasters Association Convention in Williamsburg, Virginia, in March. Ithaca audiences will have a chance to hear a preview of that performance on Thursday, February 26. The free concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

The Core Experience Task Force will meet with members of the Faculty Council, Student Government Association, representatives of the Staff Council, Student Affairs directors, and Academic Achievement and Advisement Committee on Wednesday, February 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This meeting is designed to evoke recommendations to the task force about what core experiences should distinguish Ithaca College graduates.

In continuing outreach to the campus, other meetings will be announced in the coming months.

Effective Friday, March 19, Information Technology Services will implement a "Fix-It Fridays" policy to establish a weekly window of time -- from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Fridays -- to perform necessary maintenance on computers and network systems. During this time frame, important production systems (to include e-mail, file servers, Parnassus systems, and others) and/or network communications may be unavailable.

Junior Stephanie Cleary (Tappan Zee/Tappan) of the Ithaca College women's basketball team continues to lead all college basketball players in steals per game. Cleary is averaging 5.5 steals per game this season -- the highest figure in college basketball (men's or women's, Division I, II or III). Her total of 115 steals is also the highest figure in college basketball.
