Simon Tarr, assistant professor of cinema and photography, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers.

University of Limerick

The Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jeffrey Grogan and joined by four faculty guest artists, will travel to the Republic of Ireland over the College's spring break in March to perform concerts in Galway, Limerick, and Dublin. The tour is a component of an exchange program between Ithaca College and the University of Limerick's Irish World Music Centre.

In a recent New York Times article, entitled "Just Another Ithaca-Educated Bronco Buster," one of IC's musical theater graduates, Matt Cavenaugh, is profiled. He will be playing the lead role in a new Broadway musical version of the 1980 John Travolta movie "Urban Cowboy."

John Bonaguro, School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, and Ernest Nalette, physical therapy, coauthored "The Role of Allied Health Professions in Substance Abuse Education." The article was published in the September 2002 issue of the journal Substance Abuse.

Jason Hamilton, biology, coauthored an article, "Radiation Use Efficiency of a Forest Exposed to Elevated Levels of Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide," which was published in volume 22 of Tree Physiology.

Stu Katz '83 and Rick Stone '01 recently conducted a minicourse for 15 communication students. The course was sponsored by Ithaca College Television.

Harry McCue, Art, has had a print selected for exhibition in the Great Plains Ninth Annual National Exhibition at Fort Hays State University in Kansas. The exhibit will run from Feb. 14 until March 21, 2003.

Trumpeter Andre Ikov and saxophonist Alexei Volkov, two musicians from the Ippolitov-Ivanov Conservatory in Moscow, will give a guest recital at Ithaca College on Wednesday, February 26. The performance will begin at 8:15 p.m. in the Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

Andrew Smith, biology, and Martha Morin '03 have coauthored an article, "Biochemical Differences between Trail Mucus and Adhesive Mucus from March Periwinkle Snails." The article appeared in the December 2002 issue of Biological Bulletin.
