Dr. Duke (Management, School of Business) presents paper on the pedagogy of strategic management at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting.Contributed by Duncan Duke on 09/17/20 Professor Duke presented the paper "Making Strategy Valuable to Undergraduate Students" at the annual meeting of the Academy of Management. The paper examines the most common methods used to teach strategic management to undergraduate business school students, highlights some of the limitations of these methods, and proposes three principles for developing strategic management courses that are better tailored to undergraduate students' circumstances. (16 words) Exercise Science and Athletic Training Professors, David Diggin and Gary Sforzo publish "Enhancing Wellness During Young Aulthood" in the September issue of the American College of Sports Medicine's Health and Fitness Journal.Contributed by Jackie Wandell on 09/17/20 Assistant Professor David Diggin and Professor Emeritus Gary Sforzo from the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training published "Enhancing Wellness During Young Adulthood" in a special issue of the American College of Sports Medicine's Health and Fitness Journal entitled "Refocusing Lifespan to Healthspan." The paper focuses on promoting wellness, and particularly physical activity, for college-aged individuals through the start of mid-life. (216 words) School of Business Professor Ed Catto (management) moderates a panel at the premier Comic-con event in San DiegoContributed by Matt Rodgers on 09/16/20 Professor Ed Catto (management) moderated a virtual panel in July for the San Diego Comic-Con, the world’s foremost and longest running comic-convention event. The panel focused on the intersection of Academia and Pop Culture and included top industry speakers from Columbia University, Syracuse University and the University of Washington. Within the first week, the panel earned over 5,000 views. Professor Catto has been asked by Comic-Con International to extend this series and will be moderating a series of additional panels for the fall season. Dr. Evis Sammoutis, Associate Professor of Music Composition, had two interviews published in two of the major newspapers in CyprusContributed by Sara Jacobs on 09/16/20 The first whole page article in Greek was published by Phileleftheros, the oldest daily newspaper in Cyprus and the largest by circulation. The second interview in English appeared in the Cyprus Mail. Both interviews were concerning the Creative Europe project “Interfaces”, an international, interdisciplinary project focused on creating new models and practices for audience development in contemporary music in Europe, which was awarded over two million dollars in funding by the European Union.
