Macabre Theatre Ensemble provides an unique experience during Halloween WeekendContributed by Theresa Johnson on 11/03/15 The Macabre Theatre Ensemble isn’t your typical student organization. At Ithaca College, with a world renowned theater program, the Macabre Theatre Ensemble shows a different side of performing arts. Audience members are engaged with the show, breaking down the fourth wall to become a part of the productions. In “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, the performers explore gender and sexuality wearing nothing but sexy undergarments as the cult classic plays in the background. By the end, the audience is doing the same. Macabre Theatre Ensemble came to life in Spring 2012, taking over the cult phenomenon “Rocky Horror Picture Show” in Fall 2013, a task previously held by IC Players. The supernatural, horror-comedy, avant-garde experimental theatre found its home at IC, and now proudly features four major productions this Fall, beginning with the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” this Halloween weekend.
