Bergman will engage participants in a number of activities designed to educate and sensitize individuals to the physical, psychological, social, and other changes that are common as we age. This free workshop is open to family caregivers and others interested in how to communicate with, and assist, older adults in overcoming and copying with age-related changes. Associate Professor Mary Ann Erickson is one of four authors of an article published online in September 2014 in the Journal of Housing for the Elderly. "Aging in Place or Relocation? Plans of Community Dwelling Older Adults" describes the results of a study that examined the anticipated living arrangements of 416 community-dwelling older adults using data from the first two data collections of the Pathways to Life Quality Study. Seeking Faculty Steering Committee Members for Linden Award for Learning Portfolio ExcellenceContributed by Danette Johnson on 09/22/14 Faculty members are sought to serve as the steering committee for the Linden Award for Learning Portfolio Excellence. The award has been established by Jay and Judith Linden to recognize up to three senior students annually who create outstanding learning portfolios demonstrating the reflective and creative use of technology through the portfolio as an electronically mediated presentation and showing an established relationship and communication with an IC alumnus mentor for the portfolio. Student award recipients will be selected based on the content and quality of their portfolios, including evidence of integrative thinking, critical and analytical problem solving, and reflective learning.

The article explores how to use puzzles to motivate students and foster their understandings of algebra. The journal is published by the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State (an affiliate of the NCTM).
