Professor Wenmouth Williams will be retiring from Ithaca College after 30 years of distinguished teaching, scholarship and service.

History majors Jonathan Lee and Charles Russak presented research papers at the 2014 West/Central New York Phi Alpha Theta Conference at SUNY Buffalo on April 5. Jonathan Lee presented "The Road to Critical Mass: Science, Fear, and the Journey to the Bomb," which he wrote in Dr. Michael Trotti's senior seminar. Charles Russak's "'Let the Servant be Treated as a Man:' Domestic Servants, Masculinity and the Franchise" written in Dr. Karin Breuer's senior seminar, won a conference prize.  

In an effort to better accommodate several prospective students and families visiting campus next week, the Visitor Lot will be reserved for guests only from Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18.

In addition, the N-Lot will be reserved Monday-Friday from 8:30-Noon for visitors to campus.

To celebrate the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth, the Department of English invites students to delve deeply this summer into three of the playwright’s masterpieces—A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, and The Tempest. Over the course of five weeks, students will be introduced to the plays in their original cultural and theatrical contexts.  At no cost, they will also have the opportunity to attend a live performance of Hamlet by the Ithaca Shakespeare Company, experiencing firsthand the pleasures and challenges of interpreting Shakespeare in modern performance.

No previous experience with Shakespeare required.

Please join us at the Handwerker Gallery for the final two events in conjunction with the current exhibition, STRANGE BEDFELLOWS, which closes this weekend.  Performance and media artist Tara Mateik will give a public lecture and discuss his Oz-inspired creative practice on Thursday, April 10, at 6pm. The following day, during the noon hour of Friday, April 11, Mateik will collaborate with artist Guadalupe Rosales and writer Savannah Knoop to produce a 1915-era silent film of a reenactment of the Declaration of Sentiments from the Seneca Falls Women's Suffrage movement with the help of a cast and crew comprised entirely of IC students. Both of these events are free and open to the public and will occur at the Handwerker Gallery.

In early April, Deborah Rifkin led a workshop at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angelos, CA. The workshop reviewed recent studies in cognitive science and what they reveal about creativity in the arts. Participants from the fields of dance, music, visual arts, theater, sociology, history, and communication studies explored the implications of the cognitive studies for teaching, creating, and performing in the arts.

Dependent Tuition Remission applications for returning students should be submitted no later than May 1st for the upcoming academic year.

Employee Tuition Remission applications should be submitted  one month prior to the start of the semester. If you are considering taking courses during the summer session please see the Educational Benefit Policy pertaining to Summer Sessions.

Dependent Cash Awards applications should be submitted by June 1st for fall and December 1st for spring along with a copy of a tuition bill for the semester you are applying for the benefit.
