No, we're not talking about Egbert Hall or College founder Grant Egbert. "Egbert", our Ithaca Carshare car, was relocated to a summer trial location farther down on South Hill. Egbert has now returned to his usual parking place next to the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise for the academic year. So he's "ready and waiting" to do the bidding of any and all Ithaca Carshare members.

At the recommendation of Faculty Council, an online plagiarism detection service called Turnitin is now available to faculty who wish to have students' papers analyzed for originality against a database of web pages, articles, and student papers. In addition to the OriginalityCheck feature, there is also GradeMark for paperless grading, and PeerMark for online peer review.

Affinity groups are designed to be a safe place where both staff and faculty may speak on common interests and provide an opportunity to seek and support one another.

The Working Parents Affinity Group (WPAG) provides different perspectives on integrating work and our families as working professionals. This group is co-facilitated by two moms who work here on campus and who are interested in developing a resourceful place for other working parents to come together and share with one another based on ideas that YOU provide!!

Additional Student Employment informational sessions have been scheduled.  At these sessions we will discuss a new classification structure for all student jobs, pay scale structures and the new student employee orientation program, all of which are designed to establish consistent hiring and pay practices for students throughout the College.  We will also be discussing employment practices and how they will not only benefit each department, but how they will benefit each and every student employee on Campus.

The School of Music Preparatory Division is pleased to announce the successful completion of the first annual Summer Music Academy. During June and July, over 200 middle and high students participated in advanced musical instruction which included large ensembles, small ensembles, music fundamentals classes, a wide array of electives, daily master classes, numerous performances, and a number of special evening and weekend events.

President Emerita Peggy R. Williams has been elected to the board of directors of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), a national organization that advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. She was among 10 directors-at-large elected by the AAUW membership to serve a two-year term on the board.

Kirsten Wasson, assistant professor of multicultural American literature in the department of English, will have a volume of original poetry published this September.  The volume is entitled, Almost Everything Takes Forever, and it is being published by Antriim Press.

Michael Twomey, Professor of English and Dana Professor of Humanities and Arts, delivered a paper at the XXIIIrd Congress of the International Arthurian Society, in Bristol, UK, on July 25th, 2011.
