The somewhat unusual program features music not usually associated with the tuba, including duets by Johannes Brahms, a "London" trio by Joseph Haydn, and some of J. S. Bach's two-part inventions. The recital will conclude with "The Only Piece Ever Written for Tuba and Violin" by P.D.Q. Bach. Collaborating with Unland will be flutist Laura Campbell, drummer Will Hanson, violinist William Hurley, pianist Josh Oxford, and trombonist Harold Reynolds. Read more . . . (63 words) Music Education Professors and Ithaca Community Band Presentation at SymposiumContributed by Erik Kibelsbeck on 03/17/10 Keith Kaiser and Beth Peterson, associate professors of music education, recently gave a presentation entitled "Music for Life" at the New York State Band Director's Association Annual Symposium. The presentation was part of a featured performance of the Ithaca Concert ("community") band, for which they serve as co-conductors. The community band gave a highly acclaimed performance that was interspersed with a presentation that focused on research and philosophy related to the values and benefits of lifelong music participation. I'm happy to announce that calendars for the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years have been approved. The Academic Calendar Committee met last fall and held three meetings to discuss the various related issues, share differing perspectives, review the historical events that led to the calendar’s present form, and consider other institutions’ calendars.
