In keeping with the College’s summer hours policy, the Fix-it Friday (FIF) maintenance time will be adjusted accordingly. From May 22 to August 7, the system maintenance window will be Fridays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

As of May 15, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has removed its recommendation that U.S. travelers avoid travel to Mexico because of the spread and severity of the H1N1 influenza (swine flu) in that country. The travel health warning that had been in effect since April 27 has now been downgraded to a travel health precaution for Mexico.

The Roy H. Park School of Communications and the Office of the Provost would like to invite you to a farewell reception for Dianne Lynch.

Lynch has served as dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications since 2004. She recently accepted an offer to become the 24th president of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

The reception will take place on Wednesday, May 27 from 3-5 p.m. at the Tower Club. Light refreshments will be served.

Carl Johengen, assistant professor (adjunct) in the School of Music, was recently named music director of the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, Ithaca's premier a cappella choral ensemble. He takes over from IC colleague and mentor Lawrence Doebler, who retired from this position at the end of the 2007-8 season.

The Office of Student Financial Services will close at noon on Friday, May 22, to join in the festivities for the faculty-staff Mardi Gras picnic. 

We will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, at 8:30 a.m.

Matt Walters, repair technician in the Office of Facilities, was recently nominated to the Odessa-Montour school board for a three-year term. Matt ran a reform campaign and was the second-highest vote-getter on a ballot of seven.

Professor Stephen Clancy, chair of the Department of Art History, has been awarded a visiting fellowship grant for spring 2010 in the Research School of Humanities (RSH) at the Australian National University in Canberra.

There will be ONE driver class held this summer, on Wednesday, May 27, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The location has yet to be determined, but location info will be e-mailed to all supervisors of students who sign up, as well as posted on Intercom.

If you have or foresee a need for new student drivers this summer, they must take this course if they have not already done so. If you have students on campus now or who live nearby that need to drive this fall, they can take the course as well. Students do not need to be 21 years old to take the class -- only to drive.
