10am - Social Entrepreneurship in the Non-Profit Arena presented by Linda LaRue-Keniston, Director of Workfirst, Inc

11am - The Reality of Katrina - Hear first-hand accounts from students who recently participated in Katrina Relief efforts by volunteering over Spring Break.

2pm - Mini-Grant Writing Session with Alex Moore - TA for the college's Grant Writing course.

2:45pm - The State of Human Rights - an open discussion on current social issues.

Please join us for the annual Celebration of Service this Friday, April 20th. Once again, we will come together as a community to celebrate the many wonderful works of service that Ithaca College faculty, staff, and students performed this year.

This year we have chosen the theme "The Art of Service." In thinking about how to celebrate the amazing “works of art” we have all performed through our service this year, we’ve decided to invite you to come explore the exclusive gallery of service – to see visual representations of what service means to Ithaca College faculty, staff, and students.

Emerson Suite A will be transformed into this special Art Gallery - we will open the curtains officially at 10am. Also - please join us for the official unveiling of the final masterpiece at the awards ceremony at 4pm.

Filmmaker, journalist, and blogger Danny Schechter will visit Ithaca College on Tuesday, April 24 to screen and discuss his newest film, “In Debt We Trust: American before the Bubble Bursts.” The free event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Park Hall Auditorium.

Kevin Murphy, Robert Ryan professor of the humanities, will present a lecture, “The Irish Political Elegy: William Butler Yeats and Seamus Heaney,” on Tuesday, April 17, at 4pm in the Handwerker Gallery. This is the culmination of work Professor Murphy has undertaken since being named Robert Ryan Professor in 2004. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Due to a conflict with the employee recognition session, an additonal open session has been added for the first Provost/VPAA candidate (only). This session, Tuesday, April 17th from 4-4:50pm in the Job Hall Board Room, is open to all faculty, staff, and students.

As a reminder, please note the complete information as previously announced. The search committee for the provost and vice president for academic affairs is pleased to announce that three candidates will be on campus for interviews over the next several weeks. The interview schedule for each candidate will include meetings with a cross section of the College community, including several open sessions, as noted. We encourage you all to be a part of this important search and to provide feedback to the committee.
