Sweet—who has performed at such venues as the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, the Paris Opera and London’s Royal Opera House—earned her Master of Music degree from the school in 1978. Each year 1.5 million people are diagnosed with cancer. The Pan Massachusetts Challenge is one of the largest fundraisers dedicated to cancer research. Over the past 26 years they have raised $145 million for cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in Boston, MA. All proceeds from this benefit will go directly to the PMC. 
Soprano Patrice Pastore, a member of the voice faculty at the Ithaca College School of Music, will present a free concert of “Goddesses and Rebels” on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. All of the music on the program has a contemporary flavor and has either a woman poet or composer. Pianists Diane Birr and Andrea Merrill will collaborate with Pastore for this concert, which will include music by Copland, Bernstein, Musto, Tann, Hoiby, Walton, Britten and others.
