Wednesday, May 24 will be the final day we will hold mail for students on the Summer Employee list who have not filled out a card requesting that your mail be held at the Phillips Hall Post Office for you to pick up. You may fill out this card at the Eastman Check in office, Phillips Hall Post Office or the Mail Center.
Currently, mail for student employees who have not filled out a hold card is being held at the Mail Center in the General Services building.

Beginning Thursday, May 25 we will forward this mail to the permanent address on file.

President Williams invites staff and administrators to a special all-college meeting on May 25 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the Emerson Suites. In addition to brief updates on key topics, we will hear a presentation from Karen Hutcheson from Segal/Sibson on her work with various aspects of our initiative regarding quality of work life for staff and administrators.

Supervisors of employees without e-mail or computer access, please post this message where those employees can read it, and make the opportunity to attend available to all employees. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations (including sign language interpreting) should contact the Office of the President at 274-3111 or 274-1767 (TDD). Requests for accommodations should be made as far in advance as possible.

Due to the withdrawal of a candidate, the open session scheduled for Monday, May 22, 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. in the North Meeting Room, Campus Center, has been cancelled. Stay tuned for additional information from the search committee.

All evaluations of candidates should be returned by the deadline as indicated.

From May 11-13, Professor of Politics Asma Barlas took part in a community
dialogue on Gender, Race, Islam, and the "War on Terror" at Simon Fraser
University. She was the convenor of one of the four workshops that were
part of the symposium and also gave a public presentation on the "War
on Terror" in Vancouver.

V-I-P packages for the Ithaca Community Fireworks Show on Monday, July 3, are now available, according to Fran Benedict, chair of the volunteer committee that organizes the fireworks show. Benedict said invitations are being sent to previous fireworks supporters and to potential V-I-Ps, but anyone in the community is eligible to become a Very Important Patron of the fireworks.

Kudos to everyone who had anything to do with this year's Commencement. Sad as we may be to say farewell to the fabulous IC class of 2006, still we can be glad they had such a great day for celebrating their accomplishments and strengthening their connections to Ithaca. This was probably the most outstanding class I've known in my nine years here, and the Commencement ceremony and accompanying activities were terrific as well. I am always impressed by the professionalism and competence of my colleagues here at IC, who manage to make Herculean tasks seem easy. Congratulations to the graduates and to all the staff, faculty, and alumni volunteers who made their adieu go so smoothly.

DON'T MISS OUT ON THE FUN IN THE BIG APPLE! There are only a few seats left on our summer bus trip to New York City.
