The campus community is reminded that it is cordially invited to attend the reception at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 in the McHenry Lobby of the Whalen Center to honor Professor Mary Arlin’s distinguished career and countless contributions to Ithaca College. She will retire at the end of the spring 2006 semester, after an Ithaca College teaching career which began in 1966.

Peggy Williams is pleased to announce that the College will institute our summer hours program for Summer 2006. The College's official business hours will end earlier on Fridays -- at 3:00 p.m. instead of 5:00 p.m. This will provide eligible IC employees a chance to get a head start on the summer weekends.

Progress continues on the development and design of Ithaca’s new Athletics and Events Center to be located in the southeast quadrant of the campus. In February, the Board of Trustees authorized architectural firm Moody-Nolan to begin the program definition phase of the project, one of the design steps that will involve surveying users of the facility to identify more specific design parameters.

Recyclemania Results: 2006

Ithaca College finished number fourteen in the nation in the Recyclemania 2006 Grand Champion Contest (http://www.recyclemaniacs.org/results.asp) with a recycling rate of 29.5%. Last year Ithaca finished tenth with a recycling rate of 28.9%. We are still number one in New York State, outpacing Hamilton College's thirty-fourth place finish and 17% recycling rate.

The 12th-ranked men's lacrosse team will be the top seed for this weekend's Empire 8 Championship Tournament. Ithaca (10-3, 7-0 Empire 8) will host fourth-seeded St. John Fisher in one semifinal Friday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m.

Road to Hope Tour April 27

What do Ithaca College, George Washington University, North Carolina Central University, Baylor University, University of Nebraska, DePaul University, Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Brandeis University, Brown, Harvard and just ten other colleges across the nation have in common this year? They were all selected as official stops for the 2006 Road to Hope Tour!

On Thursday, April 27, the 2006 Road to Hope Tour will visit Ithaca College to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. An initiative of Hope's Voice, a national organization committed to preventing HIV and AIDS among young adults, the tour will feature five HIV-positive speakers—all under the age of 30—conducting a daylong series of training, planning, and educational events. Highlighting the visit will be a panel discussion that will take place at 7:00 p.m. in Clark Lounge, Campus Center.
