The New York Press Association has named The Ithacan the best student newspaper in New York State for 2005. The award was presented at the NYPA's annual convention in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., April 9.

The Ithacan captured the award for the sixth time in seven years, first winning the award for General Excellence in the weekly newspaper division and then besting the Syracuse University Daily Orange, which won the award for General Excellence in the daily division, for best newspaper overall. Judges reported that The Ithacan had garnered more than twice as many points as its closest competitor in the competition.

Food/Toiletries Drive

CSLI Leader*Quest will be holding a food / toiletries drive for the Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard to help fighting poverty in Tompkins County from April 17 - 21. Bins will be located in the lobbies of the Quads, Towers, and Terrace 5 - 8. If you have any food or unopened toiletries that you will not be needing for the rest of the year donate them to a good cause. Got extra bonus bucks? Spend them on a good cause too by purchasing an item to place in the bins.

Professor Anna Larsen, Chemistry Department, has won a $35,000.00 Grant from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund Advisory Board. The title for the grant proposal: "Advancing Organometallic Catalysis via Incorporating Weakly-Coordinating Carborane Anions into Cationic Half-Sandwich Electrophilic Complexes,". Congratulations on submitting such an outstanding proposal!!
