Annette Levine's manuscript "Cry for Me, Argentina: The Performance of Trauma in the Short Narrative of Aída Bortnik, Griselda Gambaro, and Tununa Mercado" has won this year's Northeast Modern Language Association Book Prize for best non-published manuscript. Professor Levine will be presented with the award March 3rd at the NEMLA convention in Philadelphia. Her book will be published by Farleigh Dickinson University Press.

Marina Caillaud and her colleague, Sara Via, received a grant for $362,634, which IC will receive $92,800, from the USDA. The project is entitled, "Genetic Mapping and Molecular Characterization of Feeding Specializatin in Pea Aphid Host Races". It is a 3 year grant beginning this month.

The Department of Economics was well represented at the Eastern Economic
Association meetings in Philadelphia over the weekend of February 24 –
26. Darius Conger served as a paper discussant. Bill Kolberg presented
two papers and chaired a session. Frank Musgrave presented a paper. Elia
Kacapyr and Samira Choudhury, an economics major, presented their
co-authored paper.

The year-long film series "Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen: The Many Meanings of Family" continues with a screening this week of "Creating a Place at the Table." Free and open to the public, the screening will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, in Textor 102.
