On Thursday, February 16 the Handwerker Gallery will host the Ithaca debut of Old Dawgs, featuring Tom Farrell (of Satterly Hill) on bass/guitar, John Simon (of Radio London and Coconut Therapy) on guitar and Ken Zeserson (of Radio London, The Romantics and The Maplewood Jazz Team) on guitar and sax. Old Dawgs performs original arrangements of quirky music from your youth and theirs, although you may not have been alive then. The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. For further information please contact Cheryl Kramer, Handwerker Gallery director, at 274-3548.

The Challenge is sponsored by Green & Seifter, Certified Public Accountants, PLLC and was held at LeMoyne College on February 3, 2006. Winning team members received portable DVD players.

Led by Ugandan-born flute player, percussionist, and singer Samite (pronounced "Sam-ee-teh"), the trio bearing his name will give a free performance of vocal and instrumental music at Ithaca College on Wednesday, February 15. The concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. Guitarist David Cullen and drummer Mar Gueye round out the group.

The Concert Band, under conductor Mark Fonder, will present a free concert entitled "Transformations" on Tuesday, February 14 at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall. Music featured will be by Hindemith, Grainger, Wilson, and Linn.

Joan Wynne will give a free, public address at Ithaca College on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 101. The title of her talk will be: "Education to Liberate: Quality Education for All of Our Children."

The Office of Multicultural Affairs, on behalf of the African Latino Society, invites Ithaca College community members to nominate an Ithaca College ALANA (African-American, Latino/a, Asian, or Native American) student to be considered for the 2006–2007 African Latino Society Alumni Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship honors high-achieving ALANA students who have made significant contributions to multicultural awareness and to the well being of ALANA students on the Ithaca College campus.
