In this Dollars and $ense session we will discuss the recent announcement of changes to lease accounting standards from the Financial Accounting Standards Board. These changes will impact all organizations, including nonprofits and colleges and universities. This is being discussed in this session due to our current technology renewal program. (159 words) Yolanda Clarke, Manager of IC Tutoring Services, presented at the annual Association for the Tutor Profession's (ATP) national conference in Chicago, IL on March 21st, 2016.Contributed by Sally Neal on 03/23/16 The topic of the presentation was "Building Effective Peer Tutoring Programs on College Campuses: Considerations for Total Quality Administration." In this 2-hour presentation, Yolanda emphasized guildelines from the Council on Academic Standards (CAS) in HIgher Education for Learning Assistance Programs. Other suggested practices and guidelines were drawn from her success at Ithaca College and from national certifying organizations such as the College Reading & Learning Association; the Association for the Tutoring Profession; the National Association for Developmental Education; and the National College Learning Center Association. Foundational theories which framed portions of the presentation included ecological systems theory; student development theory; social cognitive theories; and management theories which address the supervisory needs of today's millenials. The session closed with a rich discussion on the importance of student learning outcomes, evaluation and assessment as determinants for continuous quality improvement of services. This annual 5 v. 5 basketball tournament raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York. Last year, we raised over $2,000 and had over 250 student participants.
