It is with heavy hearts that we share some sad news with the IC community. Don Mooney, an Ithaca College icon, beloved by thousands of students, passed away on May 1st, 2020, after a short illness.

In 2017, students, faculty, alumni, and all of our other IC friends nominated Don as one of their favorite Ithaca College icons, celebrating this achievement at IC’s 125th Anniversary celebration. Don was thrilled to receive this special award from the Ithaca College community. In Don's 12+ years of service as a Dining Services employee, he greeted thousands of students into Towers and Terrace Dining Halls. Don was undeniably a familiar face to all that entered the dining hall.

Prof. Kelly Dietz; POLT 40109   CRN 22893 Tuesdays 4-630pm

How has military power figured in the formation of the international system? Political maps of the world today are remarkable for their neatness. Bold lines mark the division of continents into countries, with no overlap. Bold labels identify the spaces created by the lines, giving a name to both the place and the people. Military power is also folded into this way of thinking about the world’s people and spaces: Countries have militaries, and relations among countries are based on the idea that governments control the use of force (military and police) within their respective borders.
