If you have a student who needs to drive a College-owned/leased vehicle for any reason, they must complete a driver safety class and be at least 21 years of age.

The next driver safety classes will be offered on Sunday, March 7th, 2010 from 2pm-4pm and Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 7pm-9pm in Textor 101.

Anthropology major Morgan Milazzo has been elected to the Steering Committee of the AIDS and Anthropology Research Group (AARG). This was a competative election and Morgan was selected based on her interestes in studying why Ghana has maintained low transmission rates for HIV. As a member of AARG's steering committee Morgan will participate in on-line discussons that help to shape the future direction of AARG, determine themes for its newsletter, and identify emerging areas for research and intervention work. Congratulations Morgan!

Jazz pianist and School of Music faculty member John Stetch will give a free recital on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.  Joining Stetch for music of Stetch, Oxford, and selections from the Great American Songbook will be Elizabeth Simkin, cello; Richard Faria, clarinet; Josh Oxford, piano; Renato Hanriot, bandoneon; and Nicholas Walker, bass.

The Jazz Ensemble under Mike Titlebaum's direction and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble (VJE) led by Lauri Robinson-Keegan will team up for a free concert on Monday, March 8 at 8:15 in Ford Hall.  Fred Sturm, longtime jazz and contemporary media faculty member at the Eastman School of Music, will be the guest director/composer/arranger. 

The VJE will sing music of Ellington, Van Heusen, and others.  The Jazz Ensemble's performance includes music by Piazzolla, Wayne Shorter, and Fred Sturm, with guest guitar soloist Ulf Bandgren.  The two groups will combine for "Come Fly with Me," "In a Mellow Tone," and "Agua de Beber."

Dr. Anna Larsen was recently awarded Fulbright lecture/research
scholarship for a project "Carboranes Chemistry in Upper-Level 
Organometallics Course; Synthesis, Catalysis and Stabilization 
of Nitroxyl and Diazene".  The work is to be carried out during 
the sabbatical leave in Fall of 2010 jointly with the researchers
at the Departamento de Química Inorgánica, Analítica, y Química Física,
Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, 
Universidad de Buenos Aires Argentina.

Professor Amanullah De Sondy, Assistant Professor in World Religions - Department of Philosophy and Religion, will present two classes and a public lecture at Boston University's Department of Religion on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th March. 

Firstly, speaking to a class on Women & Religion on his research focus on Islamic Masculinities.  Secondly, speaking to a class on Western Religions on the subject of Islam and Muslims in Scotland.  He will also deliver a public lecture on the famous 19th century Mughal poet, Mirza Ghalib, exploring his love of alcohol and courtesans and in turn dissecting his hedonistic Islamic masculinity and raising the question, in view of Qur'anic constructions of masculinities, whether he is to be regarded a drunk or a saint.    

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Women’s Studies will screen of the film, Pray the Devil Back to Hell, in on Monday, March 8 in 101 Textor, 7-9 PM.
