The seventh annual "Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen" film series will begin on Monday, August 31, with a showing of Dangerous Living: Coming Out in the Developing World.

In some countries, being thought to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) can result in imprisonment, deportation, or even the death penalty. This film documents the struggles of LGBT people for basic human rights in the face of severe oppression in such countries as Egypt, Kenya, and Honduras. The screening will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 101.

The City of Ithaca will be closing some streets and rerouting traffic on the lower part of South Hill this week. Off-campus students and anyone else who parks their car on South Hill should read the important information below in order to avoid having their car ticketed and towed.

The Ithaca College Student Handbook is now online, and can be accessed at:

There is a lot of valuable information in the handbook, including the student conduct code, policies, and residential life information, with which you should become familiar.

The College is also required by law to provide information related to all federal and New York State laws that are critical for you to know. The "Public Safety" section of the student handbook serves as the College's annual security report as required by federal law. 

At the links below, you will find relevant information on educational records, personal safety and crime prevention strategies, the law enforcement authority of campus security, policies and procedures for reporting crimes that may occur on campus, sexual assault and hate crime laws, and crime statistics for the most recent three-year period. 2009-2010 Vocal Jazz Ensemble Audition Info

The Vocal Jazz Ensemble, led by Lauri Robinson-Keegan, features jazz for voices, both a cappella and accompanied by their own band.  They perform at least 4 times per year in Ford Hall, with additional performances in the region.

Auditions for this group will be held during the day on Wednesday, August 26 from 10AM—4PM, and on Thursday, August 27 from 10AM until all interested singers have been heard.

ITS recently implemented an option in Homer to "group" blackboard sections together. A special transition week was in effect allowing faculty to import content from a "child" section into the "parent" course. That transition week is now over!

As the result of an ongoing dispute involving the primary contractor on the Athletics and Events Center and a Rochester-based union, there will likely be an informational leafleting campaign by members of the local trades council at the entrances to campus and around town during opening weekend, August 22–24.

It is important for the campus community to know and understand that this dispute does not involve Ithaca College employees, but rather the workers used by subcontractors of Pike Construction.

Have you been wanting to play in orchestra since coming to college, but haven't had the time or the opportunity?

The Ithaca College Sinfonietta is a newly formed orchestral ensemble open to all Ithaca College and Cornell students. All string, wind, brass, and percussion players, both music majors and non-music majors, are encouraged to join--no audition is required.

The concert will be Sunday November 15th at 9pm and rehearsals will be held week on Mondays from 6-7:50pm in Presser rehearsal hall at the Whalen Center for Music on the Ithaca College Campus.

An Information session will be held Monday, August 31st at 6pm in Presser rehearsal hall.

The Wellness Clinic will reopen for the semester at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26. If you would like to become a member, go to our website (ithaca.edu/wellness) and follow the "Join The Clinic" link. Fill out the health history form, which will automatically be e-mailed to us. We will get in touch with you.

Group Exercise classes will begin on Monday, August 31. All classes are included free with membership. If you would like to only participate in group exercise classes, we offer that type of membership as well.
