Orlando-Marquez C. Kittrell presented at the 28th Annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE 2015).Contributed by Sally Neal on 06/18/15 Dr. Orlando-Marquez C. Kittrell, director of the Ithaca College program Careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (C-STEM) and the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), presented “Eureka: Making Connections for the New STEM Elite with Education for a Global Leadership” during the Inaugural NCORE Poster Session on May 28th. Dr. Kittrell’s presentation explored the development of strategically planned support services for connecting with historically underrepresented college students completing undergraduate programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at Ithaca College. Through both C-STEM and HEOP programs, students receive intrusive counseling, mentoring, and coaching. Read more . . . Muller Faculty Center and Cerrache Hall enter testing phase for new Wi-FiContributed by Matt Gorney on 06/18/15 ITS is pleased to announce that Muller Faculty Center and Cerrache Hall have just started to join the new Wi-Fi environment at Ithaca College. Between now and June 24th, we are continuously testing the performance of the network and are asking the community for feedback on any issues. Once testing confirms successful network performance, the buildings will move from ‘testing’ to a ‘completed’ status. This expected completion will mark the final two buildings in the "Academic Priority" phase of the project. This leaves only the operational and administrative buildings left to be done, with an expected completion of the entire project in July. Read more . . . SAUNDERS, ASSISTANT PROVOST I am pleased to announce that Dr. Thorunn Lonsdale has been appointed Director of the Ithaca College London Center, effective August 1st, 2015. Dr. Lonsdale has served as the Center’s Operations Manager and Associate Director; she brings years of study abroad administration and international experience to the Center. I look forward to her leadership as the Center takes on a greater role in serving the College’s interests in Europe, enhancing alumni engagement, and supporting international student recruitment. She will be the tenth director, first British national, and first native Londoner to head the Center. Dr. Lonsdale has a doctorate in English Literature from Queen Mary, University of London, and is the co-editor of Caribbean Women Writers: Fiction to English. I invite you to join me in congratulating her on her promotion and to meet her on her next visit to campus.
