The Nuyorican Poets Café and Immigrant Artists and Scholars in New York (IASNY) presented HA-HA-HALLOWEEN! on Sunday, November 1. The event was conceived, curated and directed by Saviana Stanescu, Associate Professor of Playwriting and Theatre Studies. This annual program uses a competitive application process to provide around 400 hackers from around the globe space and time to work together on health care challenges to focus on innovative solutions. Over the summer a few librarians worked together to create a suite of interactive tutorials that are applicable to all disciplines and levels. The tutorials are stored in Kaltura on a channel called Engaging with Scholarly Content. Each tutorial has a distinct url and embed code both of which can be added into Sakai. Kaltura requires students to login so basic analytics are stored such as the students' names. In addition, they designed the tutorials with questions embedded throughout so faculty could receive a report on which students took the tutorial and their corresponding responses. Knowing the faculty are required to provide asynchronous content during the week of Thanksgiving, they thought these might be of use for that purpose. Read more . . . (61 words)

Please join our Student Financial Services team in extending best wishes to Candy Ross, who is retiring from Ithaca College on September 30th, a date we have feared yet anticipated for some time now. Candy has devoted 31 years to Ithaca College, 30 of which she has dedicated to Financial Aid & Student Financial Services. With great mentors who enabled her growth in the department, she flourished, eventually ending her career with us as the Interim Director of the SFS department.
