Student permits are available AT NO COST for the summer and do not expire until August 14th, 2011.  If you have a valid 2010-2011 permit, parking rules and regulations still apply throughout the summer with these two exceptions:

All students with a valid permit may park in W-Lot located on the road leading to the Circle Apartments across from Terrace 6.  Students with a valid Green permit may park in Red Lots during the summer.

Adam Peruta, assistant professor in the Department of Strategic Communication, was selected for the American Advertising Foundation’s 2011 Visiting Professor Program (VPP).

VPP is a two-week fellowship for professors of advertising, marketing, communications and the liberal arts. The objective is “to expose professors to the day-to-day operations of an advertising agency, marketing or media company; and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between academia and industry. The VPP gives professors a greater understanding of and appreciation for the industry while host companies have an opportunity to develop closer ties to academia.”

This is a reminder that the first phase of the annual campus wide electrical shutdown will take place this Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

It is the advice of Information Technology Services that all computers and printers be unplugged before these interruptions.  Please communicate this to the appropriate personnel within your department.

As always, the Office of Facilities will be on duty during and after the interruptions to ensure all systems resume their normal function.  Please feel free to call 274-3225 if you have any questions or concerns.

The last day to add or drop a Summer Session I course is today, Wednesday, June 1. Should you decide to add a course, drop a course, or change your summer schedule, you can do so online using HomerConnect until the the end of the day today.

Today is the last day to drop a course without financial penalty and without receiving a W on your transcript.

Educators from the Middle East and Africa will join colleagues at Ithaca College May 31–June 3 to continue the development of the “Classrooms Beyond Borders” initiative, which aims to serve as a model for innovative, interdisciplinary global collaborative classrooms. Questen Benjamin ‘12, Erin Smith ‘14, and Lindsey Smith ‘14 will attend the 2011 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders June 2–4. Hosted by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and NASPA–Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. The conference offers women students the opportunity to gain real-world lessons during a fast-paced, three-day event focused on enhancing student leadership.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Tompkins County and other areas of Central New York in effect until 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 26. A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms producing tornadoes in and close to the watch area. Those living in watch areas are advised to monitor weather reports for a possible upgrade to a Tornado Warning, which means that a tornado is indicated by radar or sighted by trained storm spotters.
