On Sunday, September 7, two young women who were part of the Ithaca College Dining Services family tragically lost their lives in an automobile accident. Lisa Swansbrough and Frannie Swansbrough, who were sisters-in-law, both worked at Terrace Dining Hall.

Women's HeartAdvantage

Ithaca College is providing shuttle service to the Women's HeartAdvantage Forum on Tuesday, September 16. The forum will be take place 1:00-7:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. Shuttle service will be available 12:50-4:30 p.m.

Staff and faculty interested in attending the forum should meet at the flagpole in front of Textor Hall. The last shuttle is scheduled to leave the Holiday Inn at 4:30 p.m. to return to the College.

Jay Pasachoff, Field Memorial Professor of Astronomy and Director of Hopkins Observatory, Williams College.

To astronomers, black holes have changed from weird possibilities to common occurrences. They are turning up all over the universe, with black holes containing millions or billions of times the sun's mass taking up the centers of galaxies. Professor Pasachoff will discuss the basics of black holes and describe how black-hole hunters have succeeded in bagging their quarry.

9/11/2001
The second anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be commemorated at Ithaca College with a "Prayer Service for World Peace." The interfaith program will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, on the Muller Chapel lawn. The rain location will be the Muller Chapel sanctuary.

The service will feature prayers for peace from a variety of faith traditions as well as brief remarks. The program is sponsored by the Office of the Chaplains and the Interfaith Council. In addition, in a symbolic display only the two center Dillingham Center fountains will be turned on for the day.

LGBT Center Receives Award

The Department of Art is pleased to welcome David Hollowell to campus for a lecture and slide presentation of his work on Thursday, September 11, 2:45-3:45 p.m. in Williams 225.

David is a 1973 alumnus of Ithaca and an accomplished artist in representational work that has been reviewed in publications such as the Washington Post, Artweek and ARTnews. He is currently on the faculty of the Department of Art and Art History at UC Davis.
