Ithaca Wind Quintet Thursday

The Ithaca Wind Quintet will give a free concert at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. Music by Rameau, Francaix, Paterson, and Alpaerts is on the program.

The Weight Watchers at Work registration/information meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, during the noon hour in 203 Center for Health Sciences.

Any and all Ithaca College community members considering joining are invited to attend this meeting to meet leader Samarra Mbenga. Find out what these meetings are all about and discover what WW@W@IC can do for you.

On Thursday, April 9, at 5:15 p.m., assistant professor of English Laura Murphy will present a lecture entitled, "Narrating 'White Slavery!': Unionized Labor, Organized Crime, and Commodified Women in The Wire."  The lecture is sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society.

The lecture, which will focus upon the depiction of modern-day slavery in the HBO television series The Wire, will take place in Friends Hall 305. Refreshments will be provided.

Save the date: April 26, at 10:00 a.m., the starter will signal the beginning of the IC Hope Relay for Life team's inaugural 5k run/walk, Logan's Run for IC Hope

With a healthy course around campus, we will both raise money to support cancer research and honor the memory of 11-year-old Logan, who inspired us all with his courage, positive attitude, and determination as he bravely fought brain cancer. Logan lost his battle in September 2008.

It is with a great deal of sadness that I inform the campus community of the death of one of our students. Julie Carmody, M.S. '10, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 6, at her off-campus residence. The Tompkins County Sheriff's Department says that the circumstances of her death are not considered suspicious.
